WHAT IS THE CONCEPT BEHIND THE PROGRAM?

What are the building blocks that will build the foundation of your new level of play? How will this program separate itself from you can learn by yourself from books?

OPENINGS

Improve your opening repertoire, make it more effective and master the transition from opening to early middlegame

EARLY MIDDLEGAME

Detect and assess relevant positional and make plan based on these, work with unusual and unfamiliar pawn structures

MIDDLEGAME

Improve planning and assessing priorities in complex middlegames, understand material imbalances and the initiative

ENDGAME

Handle the transition to the endgames, master the fundamentals as well as handle sharp & difficult-to-assess endgames

HOW IS THE MATERIAL BALANCED?

Because some phases of the game are more amenable for self-study and others require more direction, we have chosen to emphasize the balance of the material on where our guidance and direction will make the greatest impact during this course.

Therefore, the balance of the material will approximately be as follows:

  • OPENING 15%
  • MIDDLEGAME 50%
  • ENDGAME 35%

IS IT ONE PROGRAM FITS ALL?

No, in order to have the greatest impact, the material has to be suited for level the player is currently at and therefore we have divided the material into three groups:

LEVEL I

This group is for players rated 1400-1700. The material will be designated to enhance the raw understanding all key elements in all parts of the game with the ultimate goal of lifting you up the next level.

LEVEL II

This group is for players rated 1700-2000. We expect a solid understanding of the fundamentals of all parts of the game. The material will build onto that knowledge and delve into more complex positions and subjects. Also for this group, the goal for this group lift you into the level above.

MASTER

The material for this group is aimed at players rated 2000-2200. We will work on complex topics and positions, difficult-to-assess positions, all aimed at making you a more rounded and complete player that with some confidence can handle positions of all types.

WHAT DO WE EXPECT OF YOU?

This course will not be easy, no matter which level you are at. It will not be a matter of you passively consuming selected morsels of chess understanding, chosen by us, digested by you and then on to the next topic. This course will be hard work. The expected independent study time will be 4-6 hours per week for the duration of the course. A lot of the time will be working on your own and you will question whether this is the right way for you. We are firm believers in the philosophy that if you want to get better at chess, you have to study and work on the positions without the use of a computer to gain the most benefit of this material.

You will not be accepted into this program before we have talked and decided if this is ultimately something for you and that we have a reasonable expectation that you will complete all 12 modules.

We are limiting the course to a total of 10 participants. We have opened the course for next series of enrollment for the series that starts in March 2019. Register early to secure your spot and discount pricing.
